think about it

Keeping to the main road is easy, but people love to be sidetracked. — Lao Tzu

even the hair on our heads

jesusheads
OK, this just goes to show that Jesus can use anyone.

I am sorry, this was very serious and sincere at the time.
But I could not resist… look at that hair!
The one looks like the Great Gazoo’s wife.
I know, I know, one day someone will post a picture of me and my hair (what’s left of it), and laugh.
But… look at that hair!

Thankfully, Jesus does not judge us by our hair.
He judges us by our heart.
The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart. [1 Samuel 16:7]

And if these ladies were sincere, which I’ve no reason to doubt, then the Lord did use them…
Hair and all!

comment inducer!

leave a comment

OK, here is my question.
Why do so few people leave comments on my blog?
I know that we have between 30 and 40 visitors a day.
Am I that intimidating?
I would really love to hear from you.
Even if you just say “hi”.

There are “ways” of getting people to leave comments.
But this is no time for monkeying around.
So here’s your chance to have some input.
Just a question, with lots of possible answers.
Tell me what you think!

Why can’t you tickle yourself (but others can)?

our world belongs to God

As followers of Jesus Christ, living in this world— which some seek to control, and others view with despair— we declare with joy and trust: Our world belongs to God!
These are the opening words of the Contemporary Testimony, a expression of faith adopted by the Christian Reformed Church.
I recently used some sections of this Testimony in a gathering, and had a number of people express interest in getting a copy.
Its worth reading!

changing church

Changes coming
Yesterday we changed our church gathering.
No big deal, just changed the seating to be more intimate, in a semi-circle.
No stage, just me standing at a table at the open end of the semi-circle.
The time of worship was in simple format too, voices and acoustic guitar, again no stage.
I welcomed everyone to God’s living room.
People were invited to gather in groups and discuss questions together like ‘why are you here?’ and ‘what do you like about church?’ and ‘what frustrates you about church?’
The chairs were moved, people interacted, connected, it was great!
The message was interactive, participatory.
People could share prayer requests or expressions of thanks or praise.
Coffee and refreshments were available through the whole gathering.
I loved it, I sensed the Spirit moving in a new a different way.
Anyone else have some feedback?

are you there?

Are you there?

baptized in the Spirit???

Hey everyone, time for another discussion. Here is the question. Feel free to answer this however you like.
What does being baptized in the Spirit mean to you?

the angels around God’s throne

I was really intrigued while I was reading about all the furnishings etc. that went into the ark (the Levites must have been power lifters just to carry it). The part that intrigued me the most was the mercy seat and the cherubs. What would your explanation be of it’s symbolism?

The ark represents the throne of God. God is said to rule from between the cherubim [1 Samuel 4:4, 2 Kings 19:15, Psalm 80:1]. He also mounts the wings of the cherubim [Psalm 18:10]. Ezekiel’s vision shows God flying through the air on a chariot-throne, carried on the wings of the cherubim [Ezekiel 1:4-14]. The throne is described as a throne of sapphire [Ezekiel 10:1]. not the only do-gooders

What about all those people in the world that are not Jesus followers and are also committed to transforming the world for better by doing good? Individuals like Ghandi and Bangledeshi Muhammad Yunis, a Muslim, founder of the Grameen bank and winner of the 2006 Nobel Peace prize. Christians certainly don’t have a corner on doing good, in fact, they’re often put to shame by many of those that aren’t Jesus followers. Continue reading not the only do-gooders
