How do I talk with God?

Knowing that his life is but a breath of air, while he yet lives, Job shares all with God. Also his frustrations. What is the meaning of it all? What is the purpose of life? We do not live forever. I despise my life. I have no meaning? What have I done in this world?

We just celebrated 40 years marriage, turning 65 and 63 with kids and friends before I return to Haiti. Time has gone all too fast - not just the two months spent here during the summertime but all of life - living here on earth. What have I accomplished? What have I done? Soon too I will lie down in the dust and be no more.

Lord, help me in Your way. Help me in my talks with You. Help me daily to share all that is upon my heart. At all times, help me to praise/talk to/share all with my living God and Saviour.

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

Refrain

Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

Refrain

But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

Refrain

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet.
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way.
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Refrain

Ivan, beautifully said. I saw the Case for Faith and I was in fear and trembling over it. A very holy fear and trembling. God so loved Charles Templeton...
I can't help to think those tears shed were from God to Charles.

Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord God.. Although his friend is there for Job, he still charges Job. Job's problems are because of what he has done? No! God's power and glory also need to be shown in times like these. We need to be GodStrong at all times - easier said than done.

Job was there for others and when he experiences the pain, where is his comfort? His strength? My strength?

At all times I must worship - the fruit of my lips and the fruit of my heart - all which must be rooted in God. He must e the Rock of my salvation. I/We need to listen to our own advice - the advice - the words we speak to those around us. At all times I must be rooted in order to bear fruit. May that be evident.

My life is in You Lord
My strength is in You Lord
My hope is in You Lord
In You, It’s in You (repeat)

I will praise You with all of my life
I will praise You with all of my strength
With all of my life
With all of my strength
All of my hope is in You!

When I first heard this story of Charles Templeton I cried, I creid because our enemy triumph over him filling his mind with doubts. Not that I have never doubted, but my transformation when I received Jesus in my heart is real, I called myself an athiest but in reality I was just mad at religion with it's rules and rituals. But God is His infinite mercy brought me to the knowledge of the truth and the truth has set me free. Free from religion and free to question Him and His Word not in doubt and unbelief, but to be able to look for the answer to the questions that troubled Mr. Templeton and sad to say many Christians. Because I know the Bible is truth and since it is, anything that seems to contradict His Word is wrong and it is just a matter of time until I find where we are wrong, since He never is(Daddy knows best). Anyway I thought I place my small comments in hope that I can bring encouragement to someone who is looking for answers.

The words that struck me in this passage were ' who God has hedged in.' At all times I am in His protective custody. That however does not mean that all things good will happen to me, but it does mean that in all things, in all times He is my God and He will take care of me. He will be and is ever present.

I need to speak to the Father at all times. When life is good - no problem. When life deals hard blows - no problem? At all times I need to talk with my Father. In all times He is my Comfort and I need to put my hand in His hand. GodStrong so that I can LiveStrong. Help me Lord on my way. That is only possible if I am ChristStrong. SpiritStrong. Help me daily to find myself in You. Help me in my God talks - when I am happy or when I am sad.

I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine can peace afford.
Refrain

I need Thee, O I need Thee;
Every hour I need Thee;
O bless me now, my Savior,
I come to Thee.

I need Thee every hour, stay Thou nearby;
Temptations lose their power when Thou art nigh.

Refrain

I need Thee every hour, in joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide, or life is in vain.

Refrain

I need Thee every hour; teach me Thy will;
And Thy rich promises in me fulfill.

Refrain

I need Thee every hour, most Holy One;
O make me Thine indeed, Thou blessèd Son.

Job and his wife went through a lot. There are many 'happenings' in our lives to which we respond. Some great and some small. Yet God needs to be in all.

I remember the quake. The people's response was either praise God or where is God in all of this? As Job's wife stated - we must be people of integrity and God has given his Spirit to help us along the way. SpiritStrong. GodStrong.

I must remember that my name is written in the palm of His hand and He will supply my every need. In all times, I am in His hand.

I must go forward on this day that nothing happens without His knowing. I must also remember that I am His and He is mine.

In doubt and temptation I rest, Lord, in Thee;
My hand is in Thy hand, Thou carest for me;
My soul with Thy counsel through life Thou wilt guide,
And afterward make me in glory abide.
Refrain

My God, I will extol Thee
And ever bless Thy Name;
Each day will I give thanks to Thee
And all Thy praise proclaim.

Job was a blameless and upright man who feared God. He was wealthy and respected for who he was by those around him and knew of him. It was his regular custom that he would sacrifice and pray for His children.

No greater joy does a man have than that his children walk in the fear of the Lord God. That certainly was evident in Job's life - loving his children and praying that they would walk in His ways. Job knew His God and worshipped Him.

And when adversity strikes as it did with Job, Job still praised the name of the Lord. Can I, do I praise the name of the Lord at all times? In joy and in sorrow do I realize that my hand is in His hand and say 'Blessed be the name of the Lord?'

I am His and He is mine. At all times I must need praise the name of the Lord. Work mightily through me Lord that at all times others may see You alive in me.

In doubt and temptation I rest, Lord, in Thee;
My hand is in Thy hand, Thou carest for me;
My soul with Thy counsel through life Thou wilt guide,
And afterward make me in glory abide.
Refrain

My God, I will extol Thee
And ever bless Thy Name;
Each day will I give thanks to Thee
And all Thy praise proclaim.

In glory Thou only my portion shall be,
On earth for none other I long for but Thee;
My flesh and heart falter, but God is my stay,
The strength of my spirit, my portion for aye.

Refrain

All they that forsake Thee must perish and die,
But near to my Savior most blessèd am I;
I make Thee my refuge, my Lord and my God;
Thy grace and Thy glory I publish abroad.

Refrain

Once you come to know Christ, your freedom to choose doesn't end there. You are free to choose or reject Christ at any time before or after you accept Him. God has promised never to leave us, but it does make it very clear in Hebrews Chapter 10 what happens if we choose to reject Him after coming to know the truth. "It will be better for that man never to have known the truth." There is no such thing as eternal security. We need to replenish our spiritual strength and faith in God daily during these wicked days. Satan got to Charles and he fell for it. Satan convinced him God could not exist because of the all the evil in the world...he lost faith, he didn't hang on to God's promises, didn't take God at His Word and therefore called God a liar. Basically, isn't that the exact trick he played on Eve in the garden of Eden? He didn't believe we're in a spiritual war - especially AFTER knowing Christ (Eph 6). Satan throws the darts of doubt, WE choose whether they'll stick in us and fester or whether we pull them out and keep fighting the good fight. God says "for the man who doubts, don't let him expect anything from God". I wouldn't want to be in his shoes!
