THE STORY OF JESUS: Proverbs 4
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs 4:23)
The physical heart is central to human health, we need to take good care of it.
The spiritual heart is central to human health, we need to take good care of it.
Many people are finding out the hard way that you cannot neglect your heart.
That is when they start taking it seriously, and change their lifestyle accordingly.
We do have a heart condition; our spiritual heart is misaligned and weak.
The spiritual heart represents our core loves, desires, passions.
It is our spiritual center, and it drives how we think, feel and act.
By nature we are drawn towards selfish living and loving and thinking.
We go with what feels good, or makes us happy, but not with what is wise or best.
“Give careful thought to the paths for your feet…” (Proverbs 4:26)
What are you longing for, what are you living for… and is it wise?
For myself, I know my heart is divided between good love and bad love.
It takes intentionality and discipline to keep straight, to stay focused.
Is my heart set on living wisely, or am I drifting towards self love and sorrow?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
Lord, I feel the irregularity of my spiritual heartbeat. I need Your help to guard my heart. Help me to take my heart condition seriously, and to change my lifestyle accordingly.
