The best is yet to come

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 20:17-19

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“On the third day he will be raised to life!” (Matthew 20:19)
Jesus throws in the idea of resurrection as if it… were normal.
Like an average day: ‘get out of bed, have a coffee, get killed, then be alive again!’
Do you live as if life after death were normal?
Or are we more fixated on death, than on life after death?
(The NIV calls this section ‘Jesus Predicts His Death’, what about His being raised?)
In the picture above, what do you see?
A hole prepared for a casket… or a hole where a casket was removed?
Does this image describe the end of life, or the end of death?
My suspicion (based on how I am) is that we see death more than life after death.
“Because I live, you also will live.” (John 14:19)
This is life-transforming… death is no longer the last word!
We may pass through this COVID-19 valley, but we “will be raised to life!”
This is not to deny suffering and hardship now – Jesus experienced them too.
But no matter what happens, He knew, ‘the best is yet to come!’
PRAYER
Lord, Your grave is empty, and so will mine. Help me to see the grave not as a conclusion, but as a transition into LIFE after life!

  1. Lord Jesus, You knew the suffering You were about to endure, but You knew You would overcome death and live again. Thank You for Your gift of salvation, Your gift of Life after death! Help me to focus on that life, rather than fear death.

  2. Allelujah! You came Jesus to pay the penalty of our sins. On the third day Lord Jesus you rose again and gave us eternal life. And Lord Jesus you reign and no other name given under heaven by which we men can be saved but in your name Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ.
Lord Jesus you said that if we have faith as small as mustard seed when can tell to the mountain be moved and it will move. Holy Spirit thank you for your gift of faith. I am exercising my faith now Lord Jesus and declare to this COVID-19 virus to disintegrate so that on the third day, April 1 the world will no longer call it April Fools but COVID-19 deliverance day.
Where COVID-19 then is your pandemic? No more for you will disintegrate in the heat of the sun and the Lord God almighty has delivered us. So be it my Lord.

  3. Matthew was there and witnessed Jesus saying this before it happened! Jesus says “I am the way to the Father” – He is telling me that I am now on my way to the Father – even now – like Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem. Yes – I have to face my own personal physical death – but I know who my Redeemer is – Hallelujah what a Saviour! Death will be my portal to the Father.
